President Trump’s nationalistic chief strategist Steve Bannon, the former chief of Breitbart, is not going anywhere according to the president himself.
President Donald Trump on Monday dismissed widespread reports that his administration is riven by discord, saying he is sticking by his polarizing chief strategist, Steve Bannon, calling him a “very decent guy” who is getting a “bad rap.” Bloomberg News
Boomberg News sat down with Trump, who referred to Bannon as a “very decent guy” who gets a “bad rap” from the media, for an interview on 5/1 in which the president discussed the future of his administration and rumors of a split White House. When asked about Bannon, Trump described his strategist as “alt-left” as opposed to “alt-right” due to his libertarian leanings.
“He’s more of a libertarian than anything else, if you want to know the truth,” Trump said to Bloomberg News.
Trump acknowledged that tensions were, at one point, high within his administration between people who weren’t getting along. “We have a lot of people that are getting along well (now),” he said. “It’s coming out better than it was, you know, for a while. And for a while it was a little testy, I guess for some of them, but I said, ‘You’ve got to get your acts together.'”
Some have speculated that the president planned on replacing Bannon after the former Breitbart chief was removed from the National Security Council. It is clear that Bannon’s wing of the Trump administration directly opposes the Jared Kushner/Ivanka Trump wing.
“Bannon is a very decent guy who feels very strongly about the country. Likewise, Jared. And they’re getting along fine,” Trump revealed – indicating that his team is more unified now.
According to Bloomberg’s report, it appears the president is sticking with his current chief strategist despite pressure from the fake news media to replace him with a globalist.
