Ted Cruz and John Kasich announce team to stop the Republican frontrunner together.
The Ted Cruz/John Kasich campaigns announced an agreement late Sunday night in which the two candidates will team up for the purpose of taking out Donald Trump.
This is disgusting.
“To ensure that we nominate a Republican who can unify the Republican Party and win in November, our campaign will focus its time and resources in Indiana and in turn clear the path for Governor Kasich to compete in Oregon and New Mexico,” Cruz campaign manager Jeff Roe said in a statemeant released Sunday evening.
The Kasich campaign released a statement as well.
“Our goal is to have an open convention in Cleveland, where we are confident a candidate capable of uniting the party and winning in November will emerge as the nominee,” campaign strategist John Weaver wrote.
The leading Republican presidential contender responded with a scathing Tweet:
In a statement released by the Trump campaign, the billionaire mogul called the open collusion between Cruz/Kasich “sad,” adding that “these two Washington insiders have had to rever to collusion in order to stay alive.”
“When two candidates who have no path to victory get together to stop a candidate who is expanding the party by millions of voters, (all of whom will drop out if I am not in the race) it is yet another example of everything that is wrong in Washington and our political system,” Trump concluded.
The announcement by Kasich/Cruz is a direct message to their associated PACs to work together in certain states in order to steal delegates away from Trump and swipe away the nomination at a brokered convention. With the real estate mogul’s chances of reaching the magic 1237 delegate number on the first ballot, an open collusion is the only chance the establishment has to stop the populist takeover of the Republican party which threatens the corporate donor elite power structure.
