Trump celebrates victory in New York before declaring that the race is basically over.
Following a huge primary win in New York that saw billionaire mogul Donald Trump capture 89 delegates and 60.5% of the vote, the leading Republican candidate declared that the race was essentially over.
“We don’t have much of a race anymore,” Trump said in his victory speech.
He added that Texas Senator Ted Cruz was nearly eliminated from the race but is staying in due to a “crooked” system that Trump said ought to go back to “the old way.”
“Nobody should be given delegates, which is a ticket to victory, and it’s not a fair ticket. And even though we’re leading by a lot and we can’t be caught–it’s impossible to catch us–nobody should take delegates and claim victory unless they get those delegates with voters and voting, and that’s what’s going to happen. And you watch. Because the people aren’t going to stand for it. It’s a crooked system, it’s a system that’s rigged, and we’re gonna go back to the old way. It’s called ‘You vote and you win,’” Trump said.
The real estate tycoon made reference to a possible brokered convention in Cleveland, Ohio in which party insiders and globalist power-broker elites are planning a steal that would be facilitated through a brokered convention.
Trump would need 1237 delegates to avoid such a catastrophe, but even that number might now clinch the nomination for him should the elite change the rules at the last second prior to the convention.
