United Nations launches worldwide arms treaty.
The UN arms treaty, opposed only by Iran, Syria and North Korea, is ready to go into effect worldwide according to Spencer Durrant of Newsmax. It seeks to prevent, control and regulate weapons trades throughout the international landscape, it includes measures such as a global firearm registry, mandating control of guns and ammunition, regulation of gun manufacturing and a limit on firearm sales by private businesses.
“The UN Arms Trade Treaty is an attempt by other countries — including some despotic regimes — to try and infringe on our constitutional rights,” Catherine Mortensen, spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association, told TheBlaze. “While the NRA and a bipartisan majority of pro-gun Senators have succeeded in blocking this treaty’s ratification in the United States, this treaty is a very real threat.” Source
The treaty undoubtedly represents a legitimate threat to the second amendment.
For any U.N. legislation to become law in the United States, it must first be ratified by a two-thirds majority of the Senate. While President Obama expressed support for what could evolve into a worldwide gun-ban, many within the system have opposed the draconian measure.
The Heritage Foundation recently reported that the bill “will come into force for its signatories 90 days after it is ratified by the fiftieth national signatory.”
“The ATT is binding only on those nations that have fully ratified it, but its advocates are starting to make a new claim: that, after it receives its fiftieth ratification, it will become international law that will presumptively apply to the United States,” PHD Ted R. Bromund said in the report.
It will be prudent for congress to hold hearings over the next year to expose the full details of the U.N. treaty and to ensure that America doesn’t become compliant with it as the globalists desire.
