Senate Majority Leader will fast track “war powers” bill designed to give President Obama unlimited military power.
The Authorization for Use of Military Force would reportedly “not restrict the president’s use of ground troops” according to this source. The act will allocate dictatorial powers to the President to deploy ground troops anywhere on U.S. (or foreign) soil at his discretion.
This is yet another move towards the complete dissolution of the separation of powers within government.
Several senators, including Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, were surprised by McDonnell’s decision to fast-track the bill after a year of deep in-fighting over similar measures in the Senate.
“He did?” he asked the National Journal on Thursday morning when reporters informed him about the bill.
Even some Senate Democrats have an issue with a new authorization without geographical restrictions placed on the president.
“I’m for the Congress voting on an AUMF; of course it depends what the AUMF looks like,” Sen. Robert Menendez said Thursday. “I don’t want a blank check.” Source
It’s important to note that McConnel’s fast track attempt fell on a Friday while the general public remained fixated over a snow storm set to rock the east coast. This is a popular deception tactic used by the establishment throughout history, they push corruption through congress while the public isn’t paying attention.
The bill is reminiscent of the Authorization for Use of Military Force against Terrorists act which passed on September 14, 2001 and has since been abused to conduct illegal wars globally against targets that had nothing to do with 9/11.
Thanks to the Obama administration, the U.S. constitution has been rendered useless, the executive branch is more powerful than ever and a nationwide suspension of liberty might be imminent.
